Teaching
This is my ninth year of teaching, and my second year at Holly Grove Middle School. I taught my first four years in East Peoria, IL then moved to North Carolina when my husband got transferred for work. Since moving to NC, I have taught Math 7 (and plus), Math 8, and Math 1 at Apex, East Cary, and Holly Grove. Farm Girl Although I may not seem it, I am a farm girl! I was raised on my family farm (which has been in my family for 105 years) in central Illinois. We are primarily a grain farm harvesting corn and soybeans but also had livestock (sheep, pigs, cows, and a horse) on occasion. My parents still live there and my nephews love playing with the tractors and combines when they go to visit. Education I attended college at Bradley University in Peoria, IL. While at Bradley, I kept active as a member of the co-ed cheerleading squad and residential living. In May of 2012, I graduated from Bradley with my degree in elementary and middle grades education. Family I got married to my husband, Jeremy, in 2013. Jeremy works for Caterpillar (the big yellow construction equipment) as a financial analyst. We adopted our goldendoodle, Sage, in 2015. She enjoys going on hikes with us and absolutely loves swimming. Our daughter, Harper, was born in July 2018 and this little lady keeps me super busy. She is always on the move and loves learning about animals. Hobbies When I am not at school I enjoy being with family and friends, working out, and reality TV. I am also a huge adventure junkie and love to travel (when there isn't a global pandemic). Jeremy and I enjoy skiing during the winter and scuba diving in tropical locations. So far, we've been skiing or diving in Costa Rica, Colorado, Jamaica, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Utah, Grand Cayman, California, and Nevada. |
